Skydiving is one of the most challenging adventure activities out there. After all, you’re doing the one thing you’re told never to do: jumping off an aircraft. The experience is nerve-racking but can also be the biggest adrenaline rush you’ve ever experienced.
People rave about the view, the feeling of the air rushing against your body, and how there’s no other experience like it. However, most people who’ve never tried it are iffy about it and rightfully so.
There are a few questions you should ask yourself before deciding to take the (literal) leap.
Have You Trained For It?
Most reliable helicopter skydiving tour services will require you to have some level of training for it. The training for skydiving is crucial. In the lessons, you’ll learn about the equipment, how to perform a safety check, the proper procedure for sky diving, and how to navigate free falling, among other things.
At Fly Venture, we ensure that our participants have at least a B-level skydiving certificate. For clients who only have A-level skydiving licenses, we ask them to bring a certified Tandem instructor who will jump with them. Without training, you’re not ready.
Have You Tried Indoor Skydiving?
One way to assess if you’re ready to skydive for real is to do a few sessions in an indoor skydiving location. This will give you extra practice and also realistically simulate the conditions you’ll be in when you’re freefalling.
Your reaction to those conditions can prepare you — or it can show you that you’re not ready. Keep at it until you feel comfortable so that you can feel relatively at ease when confronted by the real thing.
How Do You Feel About Heights?
A general rule of thumb is that if someone has an extreme fear of heights and flying, they shouldn’t be trying this. However, it’s normal to feel a little trepidation at the thought of skydiving. Embrace it, and let the adrenaline flow through you during the experience.
Part of the training is also to ensure that you don’t freak out as you’re skydiving. You have to have some presence of mind during the experience to pull the parachute out at the right time.
How Nervous Do You Feel About The Experience?
Even after all the training, you could be feeling a little nervous. A moderate amount is fine. If your whole body is screaming at you not to do it or feel the physical effects of anxiety, step back, and don’t go through with it.
However, our team is usually there to assist our clients during the process, and as long as you have the proper training, you should be fine on your helicopter skydiving adventure. Schedule one for yourself in Naples, Sarasota, or Tampa, FL, by calling us at (844) 359-8368 today!
